For this blog's inaugural post, I'd like to share a super cool, crappy, fixer-upper of a guitar that my cousin gave me. This is a Truetone version of a Kay Vanguard. Actually, it is a Kay Vanguard. Truetone is the brand name that Kay used, in the late 50's and throughout the 60's, to sell their guitars in....

Western Auto stores... of all places.

They weren't knockoffs either, the same materials were used. The only difference was the name on the headstock. Of course, was there really a need for a cheaper version of a 60's Kay electric?
